Approximately 350 WORS faithful were in attendance to commemorate the conclusion of another great year of racing fun. The banquet began with racer meetings and a social hour. During the coffee and desserts, the 2009 WORS Movie was shown on a projector screen fashioned from the WORS podium. After dinner, the awards ceremony began. WORS sponsors, race directors, land owners, timing crew, webmaster, WORS posse, advertisers, and last, but certainly not the least, WORS racers were acknowledged and thanked. Those racers who competed in all twelve WORS races during the 2009 season were acknowledged as this year?s ?WORS Heads? and received a gift package including a special WORS decal, Squirt Lube and a Planet Bike blinky light.

Awards were given for the Overall WORS Series and the Wisconsin State Championship. Hayes Disc Brake Citizen Series racers were the first to receive their overall plaques and recognition for their efforts. Awards continued with winners in the CycleOps Sport Series, Clif Bar Comp, and the BelGioioso Elite Series taking to the podium. Brian Matter (Gear Grinder) and Abigail Strigel (Mafia Racing / Pabst / Felt) were each presented with a Salsa Mamasita 29er Mountain bike (a $3,400 value), an All-In-One WORS gift certificate for 2010 and a personal framed photo collage from Extreme Photo while being named WORS Elite Overall Champions for 2009. A detailed listing of the Elite prize packages is given below.

The awards ceremony concluded with the presentation of the Jon Gantz Memorial Team Competition trophies to the top teams in each of the five divisions for both points and participation. The listing of Team Awards can be found in the Results section of the WORS website. Congratulations to all WORS winners. If you were unable to attend the ceremony and have an award due to you, please consult the ?Awards? section of the WORS Guidelines for instructions on how to claim your award.
