#5 | Red Flint Firecracker
Eau Claire Co. Expo Cntr. — Eau Claire, WI
From The Race Director . . .
The first Firecracker was held in 2005 and we’ve been welcoming racers every year since. CORBA remains hard at work to bring you some of the best racing in Wisconsin. We utilize this event as one of our primary fund raisers, which allows us to continue trail development on no less than SEVEN trail systems in the region. Your participation is a big part of making these trails happen, so thank you!
The Firecracker weekend has plenty in store for you. On Friday you can set up camp, pre-ride and then grab some delicious wood-fired pizza onsite from the Foster’s Cheese Haus Firetruck. Saturday brings you course pre-rides, our popular All-You-Can-Eat pasta feed (a fund raiser for McDonnell High School cross country team) and s’mores by the bonfire.
Race day kicks off with an amazing All-You-Can-Eat breakfast buffet (fundraiser) that will be sure to fuel you up. Post-race, grab some snacks in the Racer Lounge or hit up our concession stand, available all day Sunday. One thing we boast is “spectator-friendly” viewing areas. There are many sections of trail just a short walk from the Eau Claire County Expo and let’s not forget about the return of the Red Flint Brew View, our on-course beer tent!
Are you a runner? The fleet-of-foot can add to the weekend by signing up for the Firecracker Trail Run and choose between a 5K or 10K race on the same great trails.
Not racing? We are always in need of volunteers, who also receive a swag bag PLUS a t-shirt! Please be sure to watch the CORBA website and our Facebook page for course updates and race enhancements that are still in progress. This Firecracker is always a blast!!
All race proceeds go directly to CORBA, a 501c3 non-profit organization. CORBA builds and maintains the trails you are riding. A special thank you goes out to Lowes Creek County Park for their support of mountain biking and CORBA.
The Red Flint Firecracker rides again! We have rocks, roots, lightning fast ski trails and hard packed dirt waiting for you in 2017. CORBA welcomes everyone back to Lowes Creek County Park and the trails you have been racing since 2005. The Red Flint Firecracker is packed with all of your favorites so don’t miss out on a fun-filled weekend.
We’ll start you off with the long, wide lead out where you can position yourself for the first section of twisty pine trees. Next up you’ll want to stay on your toes for a couple of wet creek crossings and our short, punchy climbs. Add in the spectators sprinkled throughout the course and you’ll stay motivated until your sprint to the finish line..
