#4 | Red Flint Firecracker

Firecracker-Logo---NewJune 26, 2016

Eau Claire Co. Expo Cntr. — Eau Claire, WI

From The Race Director . . .

The first Firecracker was held in 2005 and we’ve been welcoming racers every year since. CORBA remains hard at work to bring you some of the best racing in Wisconsin. We utilize this event as one of our primary fund raisers, which allows us to continue trail development on no less than SIX trail systems in the region. Your participation is a big part of making these trails happen so thank you!

The Red Flint Firecracker has become known for its fabulous trails and family friendly venue and this year will be no exception. With our mix of twisty pines, hard-packed Whoops and speedy ski trails racers will find plenty to love about this year’s course.

The Firecracker weekend has plenty in store for you beginning with onsite camping both Friday and Saturday nights so that you and yours can sit back and enjoy the weekend without needing to leave the grounds. After your first pre-ride on Friday, don’t miss your chance to savor some amazing wood-fired pizza. The Foster’s Cheese Haus Firetruck Pizza will be back again selling hot, delicious pizza from 5 – 8 PM on Friday night.

Since our goal is to provide you with great trails AND an incredible weekend of bikes and camaraderie the fun continues Saturday, June 25th with course pre-rides, our popular All-You-Can-Eat pasta feed (a fund raiser for McDonnell High School cross country team) and hanging out by the bonfire. You may even want to top the evening off with a night ride!

Start your race day with an amazing All-You-Can-Eat breakfast (fundraiser) that will be sure to fuel you up. Once you’ve completed your race, relax at the Racer Lounge and enjoy the shade, free snacks and water. Concessions are also for sale throughout the day on Sunday. And don’t forget, we will have great swag for all registered racers!!!

One thing we boast is “spectator-friendly” viewing areas. There are many sections of trail just a short walk from the Eau Claire County Expo that feature an elevated view of some of the riding or running challenges the competitors will tackle.

Are you a runner? The fleet-of-foot can add to the weekend by signing up for the Firecracker Trail Run and choose between a 5K or 10K race on the same great trails we boast for the mountain bikers.

Not racing? We are always in need of volunteers, who also receive a swag bag PLUS a t-shirt! Please be sure to watch the CORBA website and our Facebook page for course updates and race enhancements that are still in progress. This Firecracker is always a blast!!

All race proceeds go directly to CORBA, a 501c3 non-profit organization. CORBA builds and maintains the trails you are riding. A special thank you goes out to Lowes Creek County Park for their support of mountain biking and CORBA

Course Description

Eau_Claire_whoopsThe Red Flint Firecracker is waiting for you in 2016! This could be your year!! CORBA welcomes you to tackle the hard packed dirt, rocks, roots, sand, trees and grassy ski trails. Lowes Creek County Park has a mix of all your favorites and this year you won’t be disappointed.

We’ll start you off with the long, wide lead out where you can position yourself for the first section of twisty pine trees. Next up you’ll want to stay on your toes for a couple of wet creek crossings and our short, punchy climbs. Add in the spectators sprinkled throughout the course and you’ll stay motivated until your sprint to the finish line.
