Reforestation Camp — Suamico, WI

From The Race Director . . .

Ramble_1

New for 2016 the Reforestation Ramble will use a shorter more intense loop and the normal WORS race schedule. Our historic marathon length course is off the table at least for a year with a new course for 2016 and some new amenities. The course will be more single track than in the past, as the majority of you requested in your feedback, but with enough double track to allow moves. We will be using the South East Kingdom, Twister, and Divas Ridge single track with the shorter lap. The Reforestation Camp is fast draining, so a little rain just firms and tacks up the track.

Although Sunday is race day, be sure to stop out Saturday for pre-riding, the Vendor/Exhibitor Zone with Pete’s Garage, and Learn-to-Race clinics. Pre-riding will begin at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Rough camping is from Friday in the lot area as always.

Ashwaubenon Nordic Ski Team (ANST) is proud to host this event again. It is a fundraiser for us, but also is held for the NE Wisconsin mountain bike community. ANST strives to make nordic skiing at the regional and national level affordable and is the home of the Wisconsin girls state championship team two years running, girls champion, and the second place boys team. Four of our skiers are bound for the Junior Nationals Championship races after a grueling qualifying series. Thank our volunteers and find our donation can. Every little bit helps!

We are planning on a party and feed on Saturday night as well as live music. Also, the trail run races are back on the race loop to start the day for the runner in the family. Our “give-a-ways” will grow as we get closer to the race so the raffle tickets you pick up at registration maybe be the real ticket.

In keeping with the Junior athlete focus, we have a promotion for 2016 associated with Brown County’s Great Adventure Park. The Adventure Park offers a climbing wall, ropes course, and dual zip lines that will offer fun to all racers and families alike.

Brown County looks for trail fees from all riders. The annual pass is really inexpensive and is the way to go as it feeds the maintenance and development of these trails and park. A daily pass is $5, an annual pass is $30, which is a steal for a park that has over 25 miles of mountain bike trails within 1500 acres and something for everyone. They are one of our event sponsors. You can expect a fee waiver from our Brown county board for Sunday race day!

At WORS book printing time the enhancement to this event are still in the works. Check and like the Facebook event page for updates and additional events and promotions..

PLEASE REMEMBER! Pets are not allowed at the Park due to the NEW Zoo being next door to the Reforestation Camp.

Course Description

Riding at the Camp is fast and exhilarating, so come ready to have fun. Expect to ride on hard dirt, rocks, roots, pine needles, sand, and bog spots. A great mix of singletrack and cross-country ski trails.
