Subaru Cup Great For Improving Your WORS Overall

Participation in the Subaru Cup by WORS Series Registrants provides an excellent opportunity to improve your series point total and advance in the series overall standings.

There are two possible series scores for the Subaru Cup, one for the Legacy Cross-Country and one for racer’s placing in either the Outback Super D or Impreza Short Track presented by Wheaties Fuel. Participation in the Legacy Cross-Country is required to receive a second score from either the short track or super d toward a racer’s WORS overall score.

For categories where all three events are offered, (WORS Elite, Comp, Open & Sport) a racer's Legacy Cross-Country placing and their higher class placing in either the Impreza Short Track or Outback Super D will determine points scored toward the WORS Overall. For all other categories, (WORS Citizen & Junior) points awarded by a racer’s placing in the Super D class (per WORS Series (Overall) Points Scale, see WORS Guidelines) will be used for their second score.

For the Subaru Cup Legacy Cross-Country, WORS Elites will be split into Pro and Cat 1, WORS Open Junior and 50+ into Cat 1 and Cat 2 and WORS Comp and Sport racers will be combined into Cat 2, so the series points will be awarded as follows:

  • WORS Elite – series registrants with a Pro license will be separated from the other pros and scored by their order of finish. The top placing pro from WORS will receive 200 points, second highest placing 192 points, etc. WORS Elite series registrants racing with a Cat 1 license will be scored as follows, their points in the WORS Elite Overall will be determined by their placing amongst all Cat 1 racers in the event and their Cat 1 Age Class points will be determined by adding their overall points to points for their placing within their Subaru Cup age class. This means that for WORS Elite Class Overall there could be multiple racers receiving maximum points as the highest placing Pro and a Cat 1 placing first would both receive 200 points.
  • WORS Comp – Comp series registrants will receive series points by their placing within the Subaru Cup Cat 2 age class for WORS Overall Age Class scoring and their Cat 2 overall finish by time* for the WORS Comp Overall. Clydesdales will be sorted out of Cat 2 and awarded series points by their order of finish without non-series racers. *Because their will be two Cat 2 races, 39 and under and 40 and over, the races will be sorted together by finish time to determine placing for WORS Comp overall points.
  • WORS Sport - series racers will be scored separate from all others Cat 2’s within their age class and the first WORS Sport series racer in each age class will receive 200 points, second 192 points, etc.
  • WORS Citizen – will be scored as usual by the placing within their Cat 3 age class with all entrants (series registrants or not) receiving points.
  • WORS Open – will be scored similar to WORS Elite with Cat 1 license holders pulled from other Cat 1’s and Cat 2’s receiving points as usual by overall finish within their age class. WORS Open Singlespeed competitors will be sorted out of Cat 2 and awarded series points by their order of finish without non-series racers. This means that for WORS Open Junior class there could be multiple racers receiving maximum points as WORS normal 15-18 will be split to 15-16 and 17-18 and the highest placing Cat 1 and a Cat 2 placing first would both receive 200 points.
