Good friends, good food, big awards, plentiful prizes, and a great time: all were on the menu for the annual WORS Awards Banquet. Approximately 300 of the WORS faithful gathered at the Holiday Inn in Stevens Point, Wisconsin on October 22nd to celebrate the conclusion of this year’s Wisconsin Off Road Series sponsored by Subaru. The festivities began with a social hour, allowing racers an opportunity to meet with friends and competitors to rehash their favorite experiences from the 2011 series. The awards ceremony began at 6:00 with series director, Don Edberg leading the thank you and recognition of WORS sponsors, race directors, local organizing committees, land owners, WORS timing and Scoring crew, Claire Cannon (WORS marketing help), Ryan Rastedt (webmaster), Marty Tank (WORS videographer), Karen Gunderson (WORS tent manager), the WORS posse (the volunteers who do the set-up and tear down at WORS races), advertisers, WORS Learn to Race staff, and last but certainly not the least, WORS racers, as all of these work together to make WORS the success it is. The USA Cycling Wisconsin State Champions were then announced and presented medals next. Top finishers in the Kinetic Citizen Series were the first to receive their WORS overall plaques as recognition of their racing accomplishments.
