WORS Thunders Through Nine Mile Forest

Race number four of WORS 2005 sponsored by Subaru took to the trails of Nine Mile Forest in Wausau, Wisconsin over the weekend. Amazing weather and a smoking fast course highlighted the 2005 edition of the Rudy Rack Big Ring Classic. Beautiful sunny skies, a light breeze, and temperatures peaking in the low to mid eighties, it just does not get any better for mountain bike racing in June in Wisconsin. How about that course? Wide open cross-country ski trails and well packed, serpentine, rock strewn, singletrack yielded an average speed that exceeded 16 mph for Elite champion Jeff Hall (Salsa Cycles). How fun is it to go fast? The exiting terrain and vast expanse of trails make Nine Mile one of the premier riding and racing venues in Wisconsin. This trail system also allows WORS to use a longer lap, reducing congestion during the race. The attendance definitely supports this event as one of the favorites in the series.

Pre-ride day, Saturday was casual and full of fun as approximately three hundred racers, family, and friends gathered to camp on site. The evening of fun and camaraderie included the Muddy Cup Cafe
