Hixon Forest Epics Sees Lemorande Take His First Win at Age 17

La Crosse, WI-

The Wisconsin Off-Road Series (WORS) made its eighth stop of the season on the western edge of the State ontop the beautiful bluffs of La Crosse, WI last Sunday. The Hixon Forest Epic track is unlike any other on the WORS circuit as long sustained climbs shake up racer’s strategy while the screaming fast single track creates an unrelenting race course. Overall, the venue is a breathtaking place to host a WORS race and it continues to bring families back year after year.

The BelGioioso Pro/Cat 1 men’s race saw an early lead group form with Pete’s Garage teammates Aidan Lemorande and Cole House with Team Extreme’s Ben Senkerik tagging along. House and Lemorande issued a day full of team tactics to try and shake Senkerik from the lead group. Each Pete’s Garage rider would take turns attacking while the other would sit back with Senkerik making him chase to close the gap down. On lap three, Lemorande put in a filthy attack up the gully climb. Spectators were slightly surprised when the young racer came through to start his last lap all by himself. Within the final lap, House shook Senkerik off his wheel and bridged back to his teammate at the front. The two would finish together with Lemorande claiming the win, while House finished proud in second. Senkerik rounded out the top three. Chris Lowry(Smith’s Bike Shop) of La Crosse finished in fourth while Tristan Schouten (Threshold Sports Carbon Repair) finished fifth respectively.

The BelGioioso Pro/Cat 1 women’s race was led out in a swift pace set by Hanna Mork(Linear Sport Racing/Trek). Holly LaVesser(Neff Cycle Service) and La Crosse’s own Lisa Young(Smith’s Bike Shop) before the singletrack to enter together. Young’s knowledge of the track gave her an edge to stay with WORS’s overall series leader but once they hit the first climb, LaVesser motored away. LaVesser would have a relatively lonely race for the win with Young finishing in second on her home course. Catlin Neuman(Brazen Dropouts) and Katrina Hurst(Linear Sport Racing/Trek) would go back and fourth all race but Hurst had the final dagger to just edge out the Brazen Dropout rider to finish third with Neuman finishing in fourth. Anna Ganju(Colectivo Coffee Race Team) finished in fifth place respectively.
