WORS Awarded 2005 Teva US Mountain Running Team Selection RaceWORS (the Wisconsin Off Road Series) received news from Rich Bolt, Team Leader of the Teva US Mountain Running Team and Nancy Hobbs, chair of the USATF (USA Track & Field) Mountain Ultra Trailrunning Council, that it has been selected to host one of the four Teva US Mountain Running Team selection races for 2005. One male and one female competitor from this new adjunct to the WORS Trail Running Series, the 'Devil's Run', will be selected to compete on the national team at the 2005 World Mountain Trophy Race in Wellington, New Zealand in November of 2005.

The Devil's Run will take place on the morning of Saturday, July 16th at Devil's Head Resort near Merrimac, Wisconsin. It will be the opening competition of the WORS Cup, a two day event that includes a mountain bike stage race (time trial, short track, and cross-country), mountain bike downhill racing, kids fun races, a consumer expo and more. The running event features competition in three divisions: Junior Men and Women, Open Men and Women and Masters Men and Women. The course will be the most challenging running course WORS has ever designed. Each lap will consist of two ascents and two descents combining for nearly 1000 feet of elevation change. Race lengths will be 5K(1 lap), 10K (2 laps) and 15K (3 laps). The race is expected to draw a field of both local and national atheletes competing for two prestigious r spots on the Teva US Mountain Running Team. in addition to the top prizes of selection for one male and one female for the Teva US Mountain Running Team,team gear and travel expense coverage to compete in the World Mountain Trophy event in New Zealand, runners will compete for cash, gift certificates, and medals awarded to top overall and age category finishers.
