The WORS annual Race Directors

WORS Year 15 Awards Banquet

Good friends, tasty food, big awards, plentiful prizes, and a great time, were all on the menu for the annual WORS Awards Banquet.  Approximately 350 of the WORS faithful gathered at Sentry World Sports Center in Stevens Point, Wisconsin on October 28th to celebrate the conclusion of great year of racing fun.  The festivities began with a social hour, allowing racers an opportunity to meet with friends and competitors to rehash their favorite experiences from the 2006 series. Next, after partaking in a bountiful buffet of scrumptious delights, it was time to hand out the hardware.  The awards portion of the banquet began with a slideshow of images from the season captured by Extreme Photography Unlimited followed by a thank-you to WORS sponsors, race directors, land owners, timing crew, webmaster, WORS posse, advertisers, and last, but certainly not the least, WORS racers.  The 2006 WORS Heads (those racers who competed in all twelve 2006 WORS races) were announced.  Sixty-six racers were awarded the WORS Head designation and those in attendance were each presented with a special edition WORS Head sticker for their bike and a twenty-dollar WORS gift certificate.  Citizen racers were the first to receive their overall plaques and recognition for their efforts, followed by the presentation of the Jon Gantz Memorial Team Competition trophies to the top teams in each of the five divisions for both points and participation.  Awards continued with winners in the Rudy Rack Sport Series, NORBA State Champion, Clif Bar Comp, and finally the BelGioioso Elite Series taking to the podium.  Brain Matter (PCW / Hyundai) and Abigail Strigel (Polska Masterlock Fond Du Lac Cyclery) were each presented with a Gary Fisher Supercaliber, a BelGioioso cheese box, a WORS All-In-One entry for 2007 and a personal framed photo collage from Extreme Photo while being named WORS Elite Overall Champions for 2006.

Congratulations to all WORS winners.  If you were unable to attend the ceremony and have an award due you, please consult the "Awards" section of the WORS Guidelines for instructions on how to claim your award.

The Luck of the Draw

The excitement continued as winners for the series overall raffle were drawn.  All 2006 WORS overall finishers were included in this drawing whether in attendance or not and each had a chance at winning many of the same great prizes from our sponsors that the Elite overall champs receive for their efforts.  And the lucky WORS racers are:
